Theater Arts 12+
Teacher: Desirae Clark
This class will contain
an introduction to acting and theater, as well as use of movement and
facial expressions to communicate non-verbally. We will work on
improvising, building a character, auditioning skills, as well as
rehearsing at least one play or skit for presentation before a live
audience. Theater is a skill that is developed by frequent practice
and use, therefore, this class is perfectly appropriate for students who
participated in such a class previously, as well as new students. It
is a class for students already interested in theater or performing but
is NOT designed to bring students "out of their shell" in this area and
would not be suitable for such students. Outside class work WILL be
required, specifically memorizing lines. For those interested in
writing and/or directing, there
may be
opportunities to develop these skills, however, especially the writing
would need to be done outside class time. Please discuss with your
child (in advance) whether this is something that would work with their
existing schedules so they know what they are able to commit to prior to
making such a commitment. In this class, it is also possible that we
will talk about the history of theater, 20th century
influences on theater, various types of theater (puppets, radio, film,
etc.), but this is not certain.
Weather (5-8)
Teacher: Michelle Cox
What is it? Why does
it happen? How can we predict it? Learn all about weather with lots of
hands-on activities.
